Justin Timberlake is returning to "Saturday Night Live" on March 9 to host and perform as the musical guest, NBC announced Thursday. This will be the fifth time the singer and actor has been invited to host the show.

After focusing on acting in films for the last several years, Timberlake has been pushing a music comeback. His third studio album, "The 20/20 Experience," is scheduled for a March 19 release date. The album is his first in seven years, and the debut single "Suit & Tie" was released in January.

Timberlake is one of the most popular "SNL" hosts of recent years. His musical collaborations with comedy/hip-hop trio The Lonely Island, notably "Dick in a Box" and "Motherlover," were standout hits.

He previously hosted the show four times, and acted as musical guest four times as well (one of those times was as a member of 'N Sync). He has also frequently made cameos as Robin Gibb in Jimmy Fallon's "The Barry Gibb Talk Show." (As Robin Gibb has since passed it's unlikely he will reprise the character).

The Grammy winner even once said that he would be an "SNL" cast member if offered.

On March 2, comedian Kevin Hart will host "SNL," with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis as musical guest.
