Justin Timberlake's VMAs Performance Gets A Big Boost From *NSYNC

JT Steals The Show

Justin Timberlake's VMAs performance was the subject of intense rumors in the run-up to Sunday's awards, and the final product did not disappoint.

Timberlake, who also accepted MTV's Michael Jackson Vanguard Award on Sunday, worked his way through hits such as "Take Back the Night," "Sexy Back," "My Love," "Cry Me a River," "Rock Your Body," "Seniorita" before being joined by *NSYNC. The rest of the band eventually appeared behind him, starting with "Girlfriend," off the album "Celebrity." As soon as they hinted at "Bye Bye Bye," the audience completely lost it.

The performance recalled Beyonce's Super Bowl halftime show, where that singer was joined by Destiny's Child bandmates Michelle Williams and Kelly Rowland (though, to be fair, the *NSYNC boys got a bit more shine than the DC ladies).

Jimmy Fallon introduced Timberlake, calling the singer the "President of Pop."

Sunday's awards show took place in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center, the arena that plays home to the Nets and was christened by Jay Z's inaugural week-long run of shows. Beyonce, Paul McCartney, Barbra Streisand and a host of other big names have performed at the venue, and Sunday saw the likes of Lady Gaga Daft Punk, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, Robin Thicke and Bruno Mars take the stage as well.
