Kanye West may be too good for The Grammys, but MTV's Video Music Awards are apparently just his speed. It was announced Monday afternoon that West will attend the 2013 VMAs and perform live during the awards show.

The 36-year-old rapper has been booked to perform "Black Skinhead" (stylized as "BLKKK SKKKN HEAD"), the lead single off of his recent album, "Yeezus." Last month, West debuted the music video to "Black Skinhead," an interactive clip shot in black-and-white.

West will join Lady Gaga, who will debut her new single "Applause" at the awards show. MTV announced that with this gig, West will tie Madonna for the most VMA performances, both appearing in seven different shows. The 2013 VMAs will be held at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on August 25 and will air on MTV.
