Kari Lehtonen Save: Stars Goaltender Pulls Off Amazing Backhanded Save (VIDEO)

Stars Goalie Delivers Ridiculous Save Of The Year Candidate

Dallas Stars goaltender Kari Lehtonen may owe some restitution to Blue Jackets defenseman Jack Johnson after the ridiculous robbery that he pulled off on Monday night.

During a powerplay in the second period, Johnson skated into the zone and fired a shot at the screened goalie's glove side. The puck deflected off Lehtonen's glove and nearly found its way into the net. But as the puck was in mid-air behind Lehtonen, he reached back and somehow caught it before it crossed the red line for an amazing save.

Johnson looked as if he initially thought he scored, but slowly lowered his arms after realizing that the puck never crossed the line.

Even the broadcasters, who also thought Johnson scored at first, dubbed the play as an early save of the year candidate.

Unfortunately for Dallas, they went on to lose the game 2-1.
