Karl Lagerfeld Cancels Lagerfeld Show

Karl Lagerfeld Cancels Lagerfeld Show

Karl Lagerfeld has canceled his Lagerfeld fashion show, WWD reports. Instead of
showing on October 3 as part of Paris Fashion Week, the designer will create a "masstige" ready-to-wear collection that will be sold online:

The designer plans to pour his creativity into his new collection, based on the idea of "mass elitism." The Lagerfeld company, owned by Apax Partners, said negotiations are under way "for the distribution and production of the designer's new vision." The new line is expected to be ready for the fall/winter 2011 season.

According to VogueUK, the line will be more commercial and Lagerfeld will have less direct involvement. We wonder if that means will be able to afford it. (Probably not.)

Anyway, die-hard Chanel fans have no reason to get worked up. The Chanel show is still on the Paris Fashion Week schedule for October 5 at 10:30 a.m.
