Karma, 'Anti-Grindr' App, Wants To Help Establish 'Real' Connections

Over Grindr? Tired Of Scruff? Maybe This App Is For You

In an increasingly connected world, there are a huge number of options for queer people when it comes to dating apps -- so how do you know if you're using the one that's best for you?

If you're over Grindr, Sruff and Tindr, a new app is in the works that aims to remedy many of the problems you may have with these other gay social networking apps. Called Karma, it aims to act as an "anti-grindr" and curb the amount of superficiality that tends to be present in these other apps.

However, the most interesting part is that Karma acts like a game -- and works to build meaningful interactions through online gaming.

"Karma -- the Game of Destiny is a web-based and mobile dating game designed to help everyone find their soul mates," the app's Kickstarter notes. "Karma Guru, the game's artificial intelligence engine, uses complex algorithms to factor in more than 350 potential characteristics relating to your Values, Compatibility and Intimate Preferences... Get to know your potential soul mates through 'truth bomb' questions, astrology matches, game challenges and music sharing. And when you're ready, ask someone out."
