Kate Middleton Returns Clothes Kim Kardashian Sent Her, Source Says

This is the best thing to ever (er, supposedly) happen.

If anything had us reaching for our popcorn(.gif) last week, it was the rumor that Kate Middleton had totally snubbed Kim Kardashian's light-hearted suggestion that the pair meet in London for tea. (It's still just a rumor, but we're secretly hoping it's very, very true.)

Well, everything just keeps getting better for palace gossip watchers. Marie Claire UK reports that not only did the Duchess of Cambridge chuckle at the idea that she and Kim would settle down for some girl time, but Her Royal Highness has also sent back some sample Kardashian Kollection clothes that Kim mailed to her.

The reality TV royal reportedly sent Kate some items from the Kardashians' new line at Dorothy Perkins, a high-street UK department store chain. Kim was supposedly hoping that the duchess would wear them and drum up some publicity.

You'd think even a princess would want freebie clothes, right? Well, the Kardashians' clothing line consists of bandage dresses, liquid leggings and sheer blouses -- a far cry from the elegant Jenny Packham gowns and staid coat dresses Catherine typically wears to her formal appearances.

"Kate is hardly going to turn up for an event with the Queen in a cheap leopard-print miniskirt or gold sequinned jacket," Marie Claire's source says of the duchess' decision to return the items.

Again, this is all still a little nebulous, as we're hearing from unnamed "insiders." An E! Online source has denied the whole thing, but then, E! and the Kardashians obviously have a special relationship.
