Just like the rest of us, world leaders waited (im)patiently for election results to roll in last night and reacted accordingly. Naturally, our attentions turned towards what our favorite royals, Prince William and Kate Middleton, had to say about President Obama's victory.
Never ones to be improper, the future King and Queen of England supposedly wrote a personal note to extend their good wishes. "The Duke and Duchess have sent a personal note of congratulations to Barack Obama on his US re-election," a source told Us Weekly. We can't even remember the last time we sent a non-electronic personal message to anyone, so this just further proves our theory that Kate might just possibly be the most perfect human being on earth. *sigh*
Of course, the duke and duchess weren't writing this alleged letter to a stranger. The Obamas first met the royal couple back in May 2011 (remember Mrs. O's pink, cropped jacket?) and then again at the Olympics (still dying over FLOTUS' embroidered cape jacket). So we assume they're double-dating by now. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
Us Weekly also claimed to get the scoop on what Queen Elizabeth II thinks of Obama's win. "Her Majesty is pleased with the election result," a "Palace insider" told the mag."She gets on well with Mr. Obama and his wife," revealed another source.
Get on well, eh? We hope this is true -- that means we can look forward to many more meetings of the (mostly-fashionable) minds.
UPDATE: Though we hoped and prayed this really happened, it turns out that no letter has been sent (yet!). A St. James’s Palace spokesperson confirmed to Socialite Life that the story is “not true” and that there is “no statement” from the palace.
