The Reason Kate Winslet Keeps Her Oscar In The Bathroom Is Amazing

"I'd like to thank the Charmin academy..."

When you picture a celebrity's home, specifically a celebrity who has won, say, an Oscar, you might imagine most of them have a shrine or throne dedicated to the prestigious award.

Kate Winslet, of course, is not like most. She keeps her Oscar, which she won for her role in 2008's "The Reader," next to a different kind of throne.

That's right, Winslet stores her Oscar in the bathroom, and in a new interview with the Wall Street Journal, the actress explains why. “The whole point is for everybody to pick it up and go, ‘I’d like to thank my son and my dad’—and you can always tell when someone has, because they’re in there a little bit longer after they flushed. They’ll come out looking slightly pink-cheeked. It’s hysterical," she says.

Unconventional, yes, but apparently not as uncommon as you might think. CBS reports Jodie Foster used to keep hers in the bathroom because they "looked good with the faucets." JK Simmons told USA Today he kept his next to the tub, too.

Timothy Hutton, however, hands down wins for coolest award placement -- the refrigerator.

We have to hand it to Winslet for giving guests free reign over the award: asking someone to hold their Oscar can be a little intimidating. We just hope she spends some time disinfecting it every once in a while.
