Reflecting on the difficult year that’s passed since the death of her husband, TV host Kathie Lee Gifford penned an emotional and heartfelt letter detailing the things that have helped her cope with grief.

Above all else, the 62-year-old said that faith has provided her with comfort and strength in the year since her husband, Frank, died of natural causes.

“I’ve gotten through this past year the way I’ve gotten through every day of my life: faithfully trusting God to do what God does, which is to show up, redeem and restore,” she wrote.

Gifford and her husband were married nearly 29 years before his death on Aug. 9, 2015.

“When I found Frank on that beautiful Sunday morning, he was already gone. The look on his face was complete and total wonder. I felt in that moment he saw Jesus, and Jesus took his breath away. That’s the way I want to go,” she said.

Citing verses from the Bible from which she’s drawn strength, Gifford recounted how she’s taken life “one day at a time,” during the last 12 months.

The loss has clearly been a difficult one for Gifford, who tearfully discussed her husband’s passing with singer Celine Dion when she visited The Today Show last month. Dion’s husband also died in recent months after a battle with cancer.

Still, Gifford spoke of hope and offered advice to others who are going through the grieving process.

“Don’t rush the process,” Gifford wrote, urging people to reach out for support. “It’s impossible to do it on your own.”

Last year, Gifford spoke of how the outpouring of support from friends, family and fans had meant so much to her.

Through it all, Gifford said it’s important to focus on what you have to be grateful for rather than what you’ve lost.

“Joy can exist in the same spot as your grief,” she said.

Sending love and positive vibes your way, Kathie Lee.
