Katie Couric Prepared To Move On From Talk Show: Source

Katie Couric Ready To Move On From Talk Show

Katie Couric is ready to move on from her talk show if she decides it is not the right platform for her, a source close to the show said on Wednesday.

A story in The Hollywood Reporter portrayed the show as riven by internal conflict over Couric's unwillingness to jettison the hard-news aspects of her persona. Recently, "Katie" has tackled issues such as race in America and the criminal justice system.

Couric has made no secret of the fact that she is sticking with the formula that brought her success in the past. Speaking to HuffPost Live in September, she said that she is comfortable rejecting pitches she feels are not "worthwhile" for her show or consistent with her brand.

"Katie" has consistently led its competitors in the ratings, and the source close to the show said that, after going through a series of executive producers, things have stabilized, and that the program has become better and more versatile.

The source added that Couric has not made a decision about whether to continue the show, but that she was prepared to exit if her vision could not be seen through.
