On what was supposed to be a joyous occasion, things were tense for Kris Jenner on "Keeping Up With the Kardashians." Bruce was flying his mom, Esther, to California from Idaho in celebration of her 87th birthday. The problem for Kris, though, was that she didn't get along very well with Esther.
In 23 years of marriage, Kris claimed that she'd only ever seen Esther four times. "When you really want somebody’s approval, and you never get it for 23 years, it is very hurtful," Kris said. "I hope that Esther can find a way not to judge me anymore. And I hope that she can just see the love that we all have for each other.”
After all those years, it was past time for the women to sit down one-on-one and hash out their issues. Both of them proved big enough to face the difficult conversation. In it, Esther revealed that she'd never felt comfortable with Kris, but didn't really know why. She admitted that she was thankful that Kris was in Bruce's life, as their marriage is Bruce's longest.
Chloe Melas of Hollywood Life was a bit weirded out by the whole situation, "We’re watching Kris have a fight with her children’s 87-year-old grandmother — so weird!" she wrote. "Kris and Esther talk things out and agree that they need to speak more. It’s totally awkward to watch but nice that they could work it all out.”
E! Online's Andy Neuenschwander was happy to see the ladies working things out as well, writing, "Esther and Kris patched things up and had a lovely time. ‘If I'm that sassy at 87, I'm going to be very happy,’ said Kris of Esther's attitude. She's right: Esther was delightful!”
