Keith Urban takes country music fans for a wild ride on his new album, "Ripcord."

The Grammy-winning singer collaborates with Nile Rodgers and Carrie Underwood on the album, but it's his song with Pitbull, called "Sun Don't Let Me Down," that's really raising some eyebrows.

Urban told The Huffington Post that he'd already written and recorded the song with Rodgers and songwriter/producer busbee, but there was a musical break that was missing something. That's when Pitbull, who regularly rules the Top 40 charts, came to mind.

"I was listening to Globalization, which is Pitbull’s station on XM, and so I kept hearing his voice on certain songs," Urban said. "And I was like, 'Man, I’ve always loved his voice and I also love his style.' 'Cause it’s that great mix, it’s Miami, but it’s Cuban, slightly tongue-in-cheek, really sexy, really cool."

The former "American Idol" judge asked Rodgers to pass along the song to Pitbull and see if the rapper "was feeling hip" to the track. Urban maintained that he never wanted to rap himself and only wanted Pitbull on it. Otherwise, he would've left the track just the way it was. Luckily, Pitbull ended up liking the song, laid down a few bars and sent it back to Urban.

"It’s just completely [fun]," the country singer told HuffPost. "I mean, the guy's wanting a few more hours of the night to seal the deal with the girl, it’s perfectly up Pitbull’s alley, hello! I was so thrilled when he really loved it and sent back the verse he did."
