Ken Cuccinelli Has No Plans To Call Terry McAuliffe: Report

Report: Cuccinelli Has No Plans To Call McAuliffe

Hours removed from a tight defeat in the 2013 Virginia governor's race, Ken Cuccinelli (R) appears to have no plans to congratulate his rival.

The Washington Post reported Wednesday that according to two sources close to Cuccinelli's campaign, he has yet to call Terry McAuliffe and will keep things that way. Tuesday's election saw McAuliffe win by less than 55,000 votes.

"Despite being outspent by an unprecedented $15 million, this race came down to the wire because of Obamacare," Cuccinelli said in his concession speech Tuesday evening. "That message will go out to the entire country tonight."

Women and unmarried voters appeared to be key forces in McAuliffe's victory. Exit poll data from late Tuesday showed the Democratic winner holding a 9-point lead over Cuccinelli among women, 51 percent to 42 percent. Among unmarried voters, McAuliffe had a 25-point lead with men and 42-point lead with women.
