Kentucky Senate Primary: Mitch McConnell, Alison Lundergan Grimes Win Party Nominations

McConnell, Grimes Win Primaries

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and Kentucky Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes are headed for November's general election.

The Associated Press reports that McConnell and Grimes have won their respective primaries. On the Republican side, McConnell faced tea party favorite Matt Bevin. Meanwhile, Grimes bested a field of three other Democrats, none of which succeeded in gaining traction against the secretary of state.

In anticipation of Tuesday's primary result, McConnell and Grimes have been sparring for months.
