Kevin Hart VMA Monologue: Light On Jokes, Heavy On Forgiveness

Kevin Hart's VMA Monologue: Light On Jokes, Heavy On Forgiveness

Kevin Hart: The future President of the United States? That's how the comic was announced as he took the stage at the MTV Video Music Awards with an army of little people dressed as Secret Service agents.

"I told MTV I needed little security, I think they took me literally," Hart cracked.

Hart then went on to riff about how MTV is the home of making mistakes.

"Drake and Chris Brown, I'm going to nip this in the bud tonight," Hart began, before joking that the recent fight the two singers had at a New York City nightclub was over a recycling misunderstanding.

During his mostly joke-free monologue, Hart also praised Frank Ocean for coming out and congratulated Snooki on the birth of her son. Hart then urged people to cut Kristen Stewart, who cheated on boyfriend Robert Pattinson with director Rupert Sanders, some slack.

He then jumped into the crowd and introduced Katy Perry, who was on hand to present the first award of the night, Best Pop Video. (One Direction was the category's winner.)

Hart, who had filmed promos for the awards with Kanye West, Kim Kardashian and Taylor Swift, had boasted in recent days that the 2012 MTV VMAs were going to the best ever.

"This is gonna be a big deal, let's just go out and say it people," Hart said to MTV. "This year will be a big deal. Why? Because I say it's gonna be a big deal. How do I know? Because I'm a part of this. Being I'm a part of it, means that it's gonna be colossal! Huge!"
