Kevin Rose and the Reddit AMA FAIL

People wondered if Kevin Rose was trying to be a jerk. I mean we all know he's bitter toward Reddit and his former Digg users who abandoned him. Could he really be that clueless as to how a Reddit AMA works?

Kevin Rose is the founder of the once popular link sharing site Digg. At one point Google was in negotiations to buy Digg for "around $200 Million" but Kevin Rose wanted to wait until the company was worth more money.

In 2010 Digg had a big fancy redesign that basically killed the site. The users left in droves and a lot of them went to Reddit.

In July 2012, Digg was sold for $500k. That's a lot of money, but it ain't $200 Million.

Earlier this week Kevin went to his former competitor Reddit to host an AMA (Ask Me Anything) which is a real-time chat forum. Usually you log in, you push your AMA live and you sit there for an hour or so and answer questions and talk to people about anything, but Kevin pushed his live then he went to Alcatraz. Alcatraz is not a hot new social network, it's a former prison turned tourist spot in San Francisco. He just took off. He even posted pics on Twitter.

Christopher Dendy, CoFounder of DigitalTraffic.com said "I find it unbelievable that one of the founders of a social media community could respond this way to another social media community like Reddit."

Personally, I think it was a publicity stunt. After stirring up some press, he did finally show up and answer some questions but frankly it's a pretty boring AMA. Here's one of his video responses.
