Kim Kardashian Insists That Family Supports Bruce Jenner's Transition

In an interview with the "Today" show's Matt Lauer, Kim Kardashian spoke at length about Bruce Jenner coming out as transgender, saying she and the rest of the Kardashian-Jenner family support him and his transition in every way.

"He has the biggest heart and I'm really happy for him that he's living his life the way he wants to live it and that he has found inner peace and just pure happiness," she told Lauer in Monday's interview. "That's what life is about. I don't know what life would be like if you always felt you weren't yourself. I know it's not something you or I could fully understand. But I don't even think we have to."

She refuted claims that some family members were opposed to his transition. "We all really support him. Is it a hard adjustment? Yes," she said. The whole family has spent time educating themselves with GLAAD and other organizations about transgender issues, Kardashian said: "What do we call him? Do we say him or her? How do we respectful?"

Kardashian addressed the imminent threat to Jenner's privacy by the paparazzi. "He has waited almost 65 years to make this decision, whether he's kept it to himself or not, he's lived with it," she said. "I think when you are finally ready to be your true self then you're prepared for anything."

Note: Considering that Jenner has identified as, “for all intents and purposes, a woman,” but has not yet indicated that he would like to be known by a new name or female pronouns, this story uses male pronouns.
