The ugly rumor that Kris Jenner, "momager" to the Kardashian clan, was responsible for selling and distributing her daughter Kim's infamous sex tape is untrue, family members said.

“It’s ridiculous. Not true,” the Kardashians' longtime rep told me. Once again, the rumor has brought to light a subject that Kim and her family wished would go away -- a homemade adult film with Ray J that was shot in 2003 and released by Vivid Entertainment in 2007 under the title "Kim Kardashian, Superstar."

“This was a very painful time for everyone,” a family friend told me. “Kris is Kim’s manager and has been a very successful one, but first she is a mother. She did everything she could to protect Kim and will continue to do so.”

Kim recently told Oprah in a TV interview that she felt "humiliated" by the sex tape.
