LA YOUTH RISE UP FOR HUMANITY

On April 29, 2016 RISE UP for Humanity: Justice for the Forgotten held their 1st Annual Rise UP youth conference with a goal to raise consciousness and build a progressive youth network in LA County. Through engaging workshops that focus on social justice issues and practical and artistic solutions, 200 students were empowered to create human relations change efforts through art projects within their communities.

There were over 20 workshops led by professionals and experts addressing issues including: homelessness, history, prisons, poverty, sexism, racism, homophobia, diet, climate change, trauma, and healing.

The final session will be an art based workshop where these students will be guided to utilize an artistic tool such as photography, documentary film, song writing, poems, writing, murals, gardening, cooking, or theater to change create positive change effort in their community.
