2 Dead In Apparent Murder-Suicide At Texas Air Force Base

Authorities say the situation has been contained.

Two people have been killed in a shooting at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio on Friday, according to the Bexar County Sheriff's office.

"It's over," sheriff's office spokesman James Keith said, noting that authorities were still on the scene.

Keith said the shooter is believed to be among the dead, and there are multiple reports that the shooting was a murder-suicide.

An airman reportedly shot the commanding officer of the 331st K-9 Training Squadron, and may have turned the gun on themselves, according to the Air Force Times.

"We do feel like the situation is contained and everything is OK at this point," Keith told local news station KENS.

There were earlier reports of “victims” on the scene, but it is unclear whether there were injuries in addition to the deaths.

The FBI said it had been called to help investigate.

New Air Force recruits go through basic training on the Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland.
