Singer Lana Del Rey: I Still Babysit When I'm Home

Lana Del Rey: I Still Babysit

Lana Del Rey may be an up-and-coming music star, but the buzzed-about singer less glamorous job when she's at home -- babysitting.

That's right, Del Rey, 25, still babysits for a 10-year-old boy twice a week when she's not traveling and promoting her singing career.

"I think people would be surprised to know that I live a very quiet life, a very private life," the New York native said in an interview with MTV. "I still do a lot of the same things every day when I'm at home. I still have my same babysitting job."

Del Rey said she continues to babysit because that's what she has done for a while, before she became a YouTube sensation and now a recording star thanks to her hit, "Video Games."

"When I'm here, it's what I do," she said of her babysitting gig.

Del Rey, who faced some serious backlash after her not-so-good "SNL" performance earlier this month, recently spoke out about her nerves and dealing with harsh Internet critics.

"I don't want to talk about how it made me feel because I think it's disrespectful to God to go to a dark place with this kind of thing," she told the UK Telegraph. "People just want to see me go off the rails. That's the only reason they're watching. They just want to see what happens."

Del Rey's first album, "Born To Die," drops Jan. 31 worldwide.
