Lana Del Rey Met Gala Appearance Is Actually Happening... With Joseph Altuzarra

Lana Del Rey Is Going To The Met Gala!

Sorry, Lana del Rey Haters: the indie singer isn't going anywhere.

Despite her absence at Sunday night's Grammys and at New York Fashion Week, del Rey is still high on fashion's radar. Thanks to Fashionista (which actually took the time to read Friday's issue of The Daily that we just stuffed in our bag), we know that Lana will be in attendance at the chicest event of the season. J. Crew's Jenna Lyons told The Daily, "I'm going with Lana del Rey and Joseph Altuzarra!"

WHOA. Though we later clarified with Altuzarra's spokesperson that Lyons will not be the designer's date (see our update below), we did confirm that del Rey would be attending with him. A modeling contract and magazine cover (even if it is Vogue UK) are one thing; an invite to the Costume Institute Gala is another. Not only will the gold-toothed, red-clawed singer rub shoulders with fashion's heavy-hitters, from designers to editors, but a Met Gala invite means you have been accepted by the one person who truly matters: Anna Wintour.

Of course, Joseph Altuzarra's inclusion is less surprising. He attended last year (here's a pic of him and his pal Lyons on the red carpet) and Altuzarra in particular is one of the industry's biggest young talents (he bagged FGI's Rising Star Award in 2010 and the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund in 2011).

While Lana del Rey still has much to prove in regards to her own talents, she's seemingly already made it with the fashion crowd. Now the debate can begin: what should she wear?

Update: An earlier version of this story reported that Joseph Altuzarra would be attending the Met Ball with Jenna Lyons and Lana Del Rey. A spokesperson for Altuzarra has clarified that the designer will be attending with Del Rey, but not Lyons.
