Lana Rae Meisner, the wife of former Eagles bassist Randy Meisner, accidentally shot and killed herself on Sunday in the couple's home in Studio City, California.

Los Angles County assistant chief coroner Ed Winter told The Huffington Post that police are investigating Meisner's death and an autopsy is pending.

Police first responded to a call from Lana, 63, at 5:30 p.m on Sunday and took a domestic violence report. According to the New York Daily News, officers left without incident, but 90 minutes later Randy called the police claiming his wife had been shot.

The former Eagles member was not injured, but was transported to a hospital early Monday morning for reasons that remain unclear.

TMZ reports the couple had a tumultuous relationship and many conflicts in the past. In July, the New York Daily News reported that Randy had threatened murder-suicide with an AK-47 in January and that a judge had appointed a temporary conservator to oversee the musician's management of prescription drugs.
