“After all these years of searching for something outside of myself, can’t nobody love me the way that I love me,” says Lizzo. On November 30, 2017, Lane Bryant presented the #ImNoAngel concert powered by Pandora, featuring the body positive and self-loving rapper, singer, and songwriter, Lizzo.
Last year, Lizzo released her debut major-label EP, Coconut Oil, in which the title song follows, “I thought I needed to run and find somebody to love, but all I needed was some coconut oil.”

Other top hits from the EP are all about learning how to overcome cycles of unappreciation and better focusing on oneself for the ultimate freedom found in self-love.
Fans sang along during the entire performance. The night was a full-circle moment, Lizzo explains, recalling the first time she saw herself represented on screen during the launch of Lane Bryant’s #ImNoAngel campaign.
“I remember I watched those commercials and I looked at those models and I would be like, I wanna be one of those girls one day, I wanna be just like them. And [Lane Bryant] asked me to do #ThisBody campaign and it was life changing. It was a dream,” she says.

Models Denise Bidot and Philomena Kwao attended the concert.
Surprise guest Danielle Brooks (Orange is The New Black) joined Lizzo onstage for a mini dance party.
Lizzo’s confidence is incomparable. Her contagious spirit and intense choreography will have you shaking along and wanting more. She sang, she rapped, and she preached an empowering sermon of self-love:
“Self-care is primary care,” she says, “and there ain't nothing wrong with being completely in love with yourself. They put a negative connotation on the word selfish. They put a negative connotation on the word self-centered. Sometimes they be like, oh my God you’re so full of yourself, but b- - -h, if I’m not full of myself, who the f- -k am I supposed to be full with?”

She rolls her eyes and looks straight out into the crowd with sass.
“I tried filling myself up with these people who left me half-full. You know what I’m saying? I tried filling myself up with people who were temporary, who couldn't love me the way that I love me, but now, now that I discovered self-love, I discovered freedom. Complete freedom. And I want y’all to find the same freedom tonight. I love you. I love you [all] so much and you can do anything. Anything,” she says as she reassures the cheering crowd.
