It's been a month of blast-from-the-past business cards: less than a week ago, a photo of Steve Jobs' business card from 1979 surfaced. This week, a Reddit user, Zestyping, shared a picture of what is reportedly Google co-founder Larry Page's business card, circa 1998.
The link to the image was posted with a response to a thread on Reddit that asked, "What's the most expensive mistake you've made at work? (Costs to your employer, or yourself)"
Zestyping replied:
I met both Carl Page and Larry Page at a party hosted by a Stanford friend of mine in 1998. Carl gave me his card for eGroups and said "we're hiring". Larry gave me his card for Google--a flimsy bit of paper obviously printed by bubble jet--and said "we're hiring".I said, "Nah, who needs another search engine?" and went to graduate school.I still have the card.
According to Larry Page's bio on Google, "While in the Ph.D. program in computer science at Stanford University, Larry met Sergey Brin, and together they developed and ran Google, which began operating in 1998. Larry went on leave from Stanford after earning his master's degree." Page, who is now the President of Products, was Google's first CEO.
