Third time's a charm! If by charm you mean porno. Which we sort of do, in this case.
Charlotte Gainsbourg has officially signed on to Lars Von Trier's upcoming pornographic drama, "Nymphomaniac," along with other Von Trier mainstay, Stellan Skarsgard.
This will mark the third time in a row that Gainsbourg has served as the controversial Von Trier's muse, the first being 2009's "Antichrist," which involved some pretty intense sexual imagery, including graphic masturbation and genital mutilation. Gainsbourg picked up the Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for that role. Then last year she co-starred in the director's "Melancholia," along with Kirsten Dunst.
"Nymphomaniac" will, according to press notes, tell "the light and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50," and The Hollywood Reporter added that Von Trier plans to release a hardcore and softcore version of the film. The hardcore version, HR states, will include "graphic depictions of penetration."
There is no word yet on how much Gainsbourg is willing to participate in the "penetration" portion of the upcoming film. Multiple reports suggested that she used a "stand-in organ" for certain scenes during "Antichrist," (belonging to a "German porn star named Horst," it seems) but only time will tell.
Von Trier is no stranger to controversy in his life and work. He was banned from the Cannes Film Festival last year after joking at a press conference that he was a Nazi sympathizer. In October of 2011, he said he would never be speaking to the press again.
