Eric Garcetti: This week, the LA Times named Garcetti a likely successor to Eli Broad as Los Angeles' "architectural patron", citing the Councilman's understanding of the intersection of architecture and politics:

Although Garcetti, 39, is hardly showy about his knowledge of planning and architecture, he has a grasp of those issues and a real passion for them. Should he win the race to succeed Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa in 2013, hopes would soar for support of forward-looking planning and urban design from City Hall.

Ron Artest: Kobe may have been the MVP of the NBA Finals, but it is Ron Ron that has truly captured the heart of the city in the days since the Championship. Seen everywhere from the Twilight premiere to his musical performance today at the Century City Mall, Artest refuses to let the celebration end.

Jimmy Kimmel:: Ever the consummate showman, Kimmel would not let a minor technical glitch like a power outage get in the way of doing his show this week. The late night host opted instead to shoot an entire episode on his laptop's webcam,

Don Mischer:: This Hollywood veteran was given the honor of producing the 2011 Oscars, along with producer Bruce Cohen. Mischer, who will also be directing the show, had previously produced such live events as President Obama's inauguration.
