Alleged Thief Shot Self In Leg, Flagged Down Deputy For Medical Help

At least he'll have his health?

Authorities in Florida say a cell phone thief accidentally shot himself in the leg, then stole a Mercedes from a strip club, only to flag down a deputy when the pain from the gunshot wound was too much to bear, the Orlando Sentinel reports.

Lashawn Williams, 24, is charged with armed robbery and possession of a stolen vehicle in the incident that occurred around 2:50 a.m., Sunday, in Orange County.

Police say Williams had just swiped the cell phone when he "accidentally shot himself while running away," according to MyFoxOrlando.

The suspect ran across the street, where he noticed a Mercedes with the door open, WFTV reports. He allegedly hopped in the car and sped off, but pulled over just a few blocks away to flag down a deputy for medical attention.

Authorities were already on alert following reports of a stolen phone, gunshot and stolen Mercedes.

Staff at Orlando Regional Medical Center treated Williams for non-life-threatening injuries. The victim of the cell phone theft also positively identified Williams as the robber.
