'Last Resort': Andre Braugher Talks New ABC Show In Sneak Peek (EXCLUSIVE VIDEO)

EXCLUSIVE: Andre Braugher Talks 'Last Resort'

ABC's "Last Resort" is being hailed one of the season's best new dramas and its star Andre Braugher is excited to attack the dramatic role.

The show follows the crew of the fictional USS Colorado, a United States Navy Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine. Under the commanding officer, Captain Marcus Chaplin (Braugher), the submarine defies an order to launch nuclear missiles towards Pakistan, which would kill 4.3 million people.

Captain Chaplin's decision costs him his job and when his replacement also questions the orders, the USS Colorado is fired upon and the crew is left for dead. They're now enemies of their own country, looking to survive and return to America.

In the exclusive video, above, Braugher says "Last Resort" is about the "psychology of people under tremendous pressure." He also says that Captain Chaplin is a multifaceted character: On one hand, he's "a leader and a commander" and on the other, he's a "rogue submarine commander who really has nothing to lose."

Braugher, well-known for his role as Det. Frank Pembleton in "Homicide: Life on the Street," has played a character in the military before -- in 1989's "Glory," he starred Thomas Searles, who joined the first black regiment in the Union Army.

Watch Braugher in the series premiere of "Last Resort," which airs on Thursday, September 26 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
