Lauren Mills is a 13-year-old budding artist from Ypsilanti, Michigan, whose paintings are so creative they have already started getting attention from local festivals.

Mills also faces a unique challenge when it comes to her visual work. Though you would never guess from the bright colors and often realistic subjects, the ninth grader is legally blind. She has a condition called Nystagmus, which causes fast, uncontrollable movements of the eyes.

"When I was younger I got teased," Mills admitted to ABC7 News. She explained that art gave her an outlet to express her feelings.

"I don't know how she's able to interpret with the disability that she has, what she does, and in such great detail," Mills' mother said.
