Bloomington, Ind. authorities hope that an enhanced security video showing at least one car in the area where Lauren Spierer was last seen will help bring new information to the search for the missing Indiana University student.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the police are planning to release the video, although it is unclear exactly when that will be.
While Bloomington Police Department Capt. Joe Qualters stopped short of calling it a "suspect vehicle" or "vehicle of interest," he referred to it simply as "a vehicle that has come to our attention." He said that one of the surveillance cameras police have viewed from the early morning when Spierer was last seen on June 3 shows what appears to be the same vehicle twice.
Spierer, a 20-year-old fashion merchandising major from Greenburgh, N.Y., was last seen in the early morning hours of Friday, June 3, near her apartment.
Bloomington police also said at the news conference on Monday that they are not ruling out anything in the search for Spierer.
"It's absolutely critical for us to be open-minded," Qualters said, according to LoHud.com. "There is no shortage of information coming in."
There are currently no suspects, and even though earlier reports cited 10 "persons of interest," in the case, Qualters said on Monday "that is a number that changes every day."
In addition to teams of volunteers, remote control airplanes with cameras are being used in the search. The family has also taken to Facebook, Twitter and created a poster featuring a scannable QR barcode that can be read using a smart phone camera.
Spierer is 4' 11" and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She weighs 95 pounds and was last seen wearing black pants and white tank top with a white top.
