Laurie Hernandez’s Brother Writes A Sweet Message For The Gold Medalist

Laurie Hernandez isn’t the only person in her family flipping out over Team USA’s big win in the women’s gymnastics all-around competition Tuesday.

Marcus Hernandez hadn’t yet watched his 16-year-old sister’s performance on NBC when she texted him a picture of herself donning an Olympic gold medal. Bursting with pride, he shared the big news on Instagram, along with a sweet message for his sis.

“I am so proud of who you are and what you’ve accomplished,” he wrote in the caption. “We were talking about this being a possibility a decade ago and to see it actually happen is too much for me to handle. It’s blowing my mind how the same little girl I used to see doing flips on my bed at age 6 now has a gold medal.”

Marcus went on to call his sister the “toughest little 16 year old” he’s ever met.

“Love you sis and can’t wait to see you kill it Monday as well,” he wrote in reference to Laurie’s participation in the balance beam final on Aug. 15.

We’re right there with ya, Marcus. We can’t hardly wait.
