Law of Attraction: What's the Deal With Action?

We will want to take actions. We are here having this physical experience and never doing anything would be boring. Our mind can't really accept this idea and it is likely we will continue to take more action that is necessary because we fear nothing will happen if we don't -- it's all good.

The role of action in the attraction process can be a great source of anxiety and confusion for the deliberate creator. There can be a tendency to take the teachings of the law of attraction quite literally, and when we hear something like "it is our energy that creates, not the actions," some can take that to mean we literally don't have to do anything, and all this great stuff just happens.

That's not exactly true, but it's not exactly untrue, either. When we are aligned with what we want energetically, as in our predominant thoughts, feelings and beliefs support these things showing up for us, all sorts of things can happen without us having played any sort of hand in bringing them about.

These are the random encounters on the street or coffee shop that land you a new client or a new job. These are the people contacting you, not the other way around, to offer some great opportunity. These are the uptick in sales and clients when you didn't change anything about your marketing, your website or your products and services, or the amount of time you spend on your business.

Obviously we will be taking certain actions -- you can't have a blog if you don't write posts. You can't run an online business if you don't create any products or services. Some fairy is not going to come and handle all the paperwork and other logistics of setting up your business.

We will want to take actions. We are here having this physical experience and never doing anything would be boring. Our mind can't really accept this idea and it is likely we will continue to take more action that is necessary because we fear nothing will happen if we don't -- it's all good.

The Type of Action I'm Talking About

The type of action we don't need to participate in anymore is the type of action taken from a space of trying to control, force and manipulate. We think it is all up to us to make everything happen, and we do all we can to ensure things unfold just as we want them to.

This type of action doesn't feel good. We are not "in the flow" or in "the zone" with this type of action. This is the type of action where we may squeeze out some sort of result, but it's hard won and probably a bit lackluster.

When acting from this space, we tend to run into lots of obstacles; things seldom go as we want them to, and then we must take more action to try and "fix" it. We get trapped acting from this space because we do all this hard work to get some sort of result we think will make us feel happy, successful or whatever, and now our brain has connected the hard work and the result.

So, the hard work continues lest we won't be able to maintain what we achieved. So many people believe once they get to a certain point, they'll pull back and finally start enjoying life and their business, but probably not going to happen.

We are very accustomed to this type of action because we have been taught that is what we need to do. Hard work and suffering is necessary to get the good stuff, it is what makes us deserving of it actually.

So not true.

Life doesn't have to be as hard and painful as we make it. We may never overcome our orientation towards action, and it's all good. We just want to do our best to act from...

Inspired Action

Inspired action is well, action that is borne of some sort of inspiration. It feels good, right and light. It may be a very simple, quick action or it may be some big undertaking.

In the latter instance, you may be doing a whole lot, but it doesn't feel hard or forced. You are enjoying it. Hours could pass and you don't even notice. You get inspired to create a new product or tweak your website. You excitedly dive in and spend the whole day doing it.

Inspired action tends to have a lot of leverage behind it, and you can get big results while doing less. When we act from this place of inspiration, we help move things along quite nicely because these actions are taken from a space of alignment.

There are a few things I would note about inspired action. First, it may not always feel comfortable. It may involve doing something you have never done before or stepping outside of your comfort zone. Your mind may have some objections. But overall, you know it is a good thing to do. You can just tell.

I am currently writing this post from deep in the jungle of Costa Rica. My husband and I decided to take this housesitting job because we thought it would be an awesome opportunity for some growth and inspiration.

When I saw the posting, I just knew we had to apply but it certainly wasn't comfortable and I had a lot of anxiety. Working online, having regular access to the internet was always a must -- we get online once a week now because getting into town and back takes several hours and it's not an easy journey. We don't even have electricity. But being here, I know for sure we did the right thing.

Second, do your best to detach from any results you may think you'll get from inspired action. One of the biggest manifesting blocks we have is our expectations, and always looking to see if what we are doing is "working." If you are doing things that feel good, you can't go wrong, and stuff you like will show up to mirror all that "positive" energy back to you. It may not be on your timeframe, or it may not look exactly like think it has to, but it will be good, probably better than what your mind has cooked up.

Don't Mistake Divine Assistance for Abdicating Responsibility

I have seen first hand over and over, how beautifully things can come together for us when we are in alignment. And know for sure there is some force out there that is orchestrating this in ways we can't even understand. And by this, I don't mean something outside of us controlling us ,or deciding what will and won't happen. I believe this process is neutral and is simply responding to our energy.

It is important you don't take this to mean you can just sit and do nothing, and all sorts of great things will happen without you having to play any role at all, without you being tasked with perhaps making some uncomfortable decisions or doing things that may make you uncomfortable, but will ultimately be to your benefit.

This idea of "fate" and things being "meant to be" can be comforting to some people because it lets them off the hook, and frees them from actually having to do anything. It can provide some positive benefit, but ultimately this way of thinking is disempowering because it puts control of our live outside of us.

You don't want to force action that feels badly but if you find yourself over and over again hesitating to do anything, even things you think may be good, you have to ask yourself why.

It's one thing to work on aligning ourselves before taking action -- that is a good thing. It's another to sit around doing nothing, hoping things will magically come together without us having to participate in the process at all. That's not so good, and you'll come to see not much happens in this space.

Bottom Line

The bottom line is that you should always be checking the motivators behind your actions. This will clue you in on the energy from which you are taking them from, and whether or not it would be good to hold off or proceed. Do your best not to get too attached to the results you think may come from the action.
