Ben Zobrist, Brad Miller Accomplish Rare Feat With Lead-Off Home Runs (VIDEO)

History was made during the Mariners' 5-4 victory over the Rays on Tuesday night when both teams' leadoff hitters combined for a pair of home runs apiece.

First, Seattle's rookie shortstop and Florida-native Brad Miller led off the game with a home run on the third pitch he saw.

In the bottom half of the inning, the Rays' Ben Zobrist matched Miller's shot with a opening homer of his own. It was only the 35th time in history, and first since August 31, 2011, that both teams' lead-off hitters homered to begin a game, per MLB.com. In addition to its value as a historical footnote, Zobrist's blast was also a personal milestone for the Rays second baseman -- the 100th of his career.

The power didn't run out there. In the top of the fifth inning, Miller connected for his second home run off Chris Archer.

Again, Zobrist matched him with yet another dinger of his own in his next at-bat.

That's two home runs each, from two lead-off hitters, in the same game.
