Teen Disappears While Walking Family Dog

Authorities in California are trying to locate a missing teenager who disappeared while walking the family dog Sunday.

Fourteen-year-old Leah Kritzer's parents last saw her at about 4:20 p.m., Sunday, when she left their Manhattan Beach home to take the family dog, Popeye, for a walk. Roughly two hours later, a local resident called the teen's parents and told them they found Popeye wandering by himself.

According to Anne Kritzer, the girl's mother, friends of her daughter claim they saw the missing teen Sunday afternoon, prior to the teen's disappearance.

"Her friends saw her walking the dog with somebody who looked to be about 19," Anne Kritzer told The Huffington Post.

The concerned mom is afraid her daughter may have met up with someone on OkCupid, an online dating website. Anne and her husband, local attorney Joe Kritzer, found out Tuesday the teen has a profile on the website

"She said she is 19 on her profile," Anne Kritzer said.

The family has since made contact with at least one individual their daughter chatted with via the website. Contacted by the family earlier this week, he allegedly acknowledged meeting up with the teen a few weeks ago, but said upon meeting her he left because it was apparent she was much younger than she had stated.

The teen's parents are now fearful that she may have met up with another individual, who might have taken advantage of their daughter.

"We're trying to remain optimistic," Anne Kritzer said before breaking down in tears.

Leah Kritzer is described as 5 feet 7 inches tall, with blonde hair and braces on her teeth.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Manhattan Beach Police at 310-802-5140.
