Lee Daniels Defends Terrence Howard's History Of Domestic Abuse

"[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f***in' demon."

The Empire Effect ” is in full swing as fans gear up for next week's return of the popular Fox series.

The Hollywood Reporter tapped the cast for its latest cover story titled “Empire On Fire," in which Daniels, the show's co-creator, spoke about several topics, including the show's leading stars Taraji P. Henson and Terrence Howard.

Daniels had some pointed words regarding Howard's admission that he hit his two ex-wives in a recent Rolling Stone interview. "That poor boy. [Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f***in' demon," Daniels said. "That's a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America."

Of Henson, Daniels said: "Taraji was what I call 'Project Royalty' because in the projects, honey, she is royalty. She was Meryl Streep in the streets; it just took a moment for white America to catch on."
