LEGO Ford Explorer On Display At Chicago Ford Plant (PHOTOS, VIDEO)

It's not unusual to find Ford Explorers rolling out of the Chicago Assembly Plant, but a recent creation on display there had a slightly different manufacturing process.

A red Ford Explorer made of more than 380,000 LEGO bricks was assembled at the Chicago plant and went on display Monday, showcasing the product of more than 2,500 hours of construction, according to a release.

The LEGO car was created by 22 designers and is supported by a 768 pound interior aluminum base. The whole "vehicle" weighs 2,654 pounds.

Like its operational siblings, the full-size LEGO car will soon leave the plant, bound for the new LEGOLAND theme park in Orlando, Florida. The car will be transported in a trailer with transparent sides "so motorists can see" it along the way, according to the release.

The Florida theme park opens Oct. 15 and will feature a Ford Driving School, where children can drive their own vehicles--at a maximum speed of 3 miles per hour.
