Lamby is the voice of his canine generation.

With so many niche holidays -- at least one for every day on the calendar -- it can be difficult to remember exactly what to celebrate. Luckily, how you should celebrate is never in question: a commemorative Instagram photo.

Lena Dunham celebrated "National Mutt Day" in style on Friday, posting a topless photo of herself with her adorable dog, Lamby.

Lamby was the principal subject of Dunham's 2013 essay "A Box of Puppies," which was published in The New Yorker. In the piece, the "Girls" star celebrated her beloved puppy, writing, "He’s a mutt, it’s true, but if you told me he was Marie Antoinette’s breed of choice I’d believe you: a golden sausage with the most human eyes I’ve ever seen on a non-human."

Happy Mutt Day, Lamby!
