Lena Dunham weighed in on two closely watched New York City elections Thursday via Twitter, endorsing Christine Quinn for mayor and Scott Stringer for city comptroller.

The two races have been catapulted into the national spotlight with the emergence of candidates Anthony Weiner and Eliot Spitzer, who are running for mayor and comptroller, respectively.

Weiner resigned from congress amid a sexting scandal, while Spitzer resigned as governor after admitting to using a prostitution service.

Dunham, who has been praised by Gloria Steinem for empowering young women, and who is close friends with Stringer's former press secretary, Audrey Gelman, was also a vocal supporter of President Obama's reelection in 2012.
