Lena Dunham shared some inspiring bikini selfies on her Instagram Wednesday, sure to help anyone that’s felt self-conscious about a scar or two.
The “Girls” creator snapped a few photos of herself in a dressing room, wearing a black swimsuit top with colorful tassels and leopard print bottoms.
“When the Target swimsuit does a bitch right, Endo scars & all,” Dunham wrote, alluding to the scars she has from surgery related to her endometriosis.
Dunham often shares details about her struggle with endometriosis with her followers. The painful condition, which causes the tissue that lines the uterus to grow outside of the uterus, affects about 5 million women in the United States.
The actress often posts about her condition on Instagram, presenting her fans with facts about endometriosis and how it affects her day-to-day life. In February, Dunham’s pain ultimately affected her ability to do her job ― something so many women suffering from endometriosis can relate to.
“As many of you know I have endometriosis, a chronic condition that affects approximately 1 in 10 women’s reproductive health,” Dunham wrote. “I am currently going through a rough patch with the illness and my body (along with my amazing doctors) let me know, in no uncertain terms, that it’s time to rest.”
