A couple of months ago I wasn’t loving the way my body felt. I constantly felt tired and really found myself falling into the gloomy weather months’ slump.

I was so sick of the way I was feeling so I decided just because it isn’t warm and sunny right now, doesn’t mean it’s an excuse to lay around and not take care of my body.

So, I did some research and read some books written by my celebrity idols (I will write a post about these soon) and now I’m starting to feel like my healthy self again.

Here are some of the simple changes I made to my everyday life…

1. Drink a TON of water

It can be hard to drink water in the colder months because you don’t feel like your body needs it as much. I started drinking a cup of water in the morning before I have my coffee or food. It seems to wake me up and I read that it is the best way to get your metabolism going.

Then, I make sure I drink tons throughout the day, especially before and after my workouts. This helps keep your energy up by keeping our body hydrated, it’ll make you feel more awake! Oh, and it also helps your skin look and feel better.

2. Vitamin C Shots

Most people’s immune systems don’t seem to work as well as they do during the warmer months. I started mixing together orange juice, lemon juice, and a pinch of turmeric to take a “shot” of in the mornings. This builds your immune system and helps your digestive track!

3. Eat a healthy breakfast

This is what starts your day off on the right start. I’ve always been a huge breakfast person but now being in the working world it can be hard to find the time to make and eat them. Now I have a couple favorite recipes that are quick and easy but also delicious and boost my energy right from the beginning of the day!

4. Snacks

I try to keep snacks with me all the time in case I find myself hungry during the day. This way I avoid not only eating something gross and unhealthy, but also I save money. I usually keep a protein cookie, a piece of fruit, a yogurt or a cheese stick with me to avoid my hanger.

5. Get sleep…even on the weekends

I know it’s hard when the weekend comes around because you finally have some free time and you want to fit everything in, usually resulting in some loss of sleep. But that’s what starts off your week. If you go into your week exhausted, you’re never going to catch up and then it happens again the following weekend and it just becomes a vicious cycle. My advice is take one night to go out and have fun and take the other to catch up on the sleep your body needs. You’ll notice a difference in your energy throughout the week almost instantly.

These few changes have been so beneficial to me and they’re easy to do. Give them a try!
