It's been a while since we've had a chat! Last Saturday June 10, 2017 was the Racers Grand Prix in Jamaica which was a major deal as this was the last time in History that Usain Bolt would race on Jamaican Soil! Let's just say history was made on that day. It was a great event that attracted other Internationally acclaimed athletes to the Island like Allyson Felix and Van Niekerk and the National Stadium was packed which meant it brought in some revenue.

PIN ITSam SharpeWith all the formalities out the way, let's talk about the new "Usain Bolt" Statue. There I was on Social Media when I saw a statue that looked like one of the Jamaican National Heroes, then I thought "Great, they re-did the Sam Sharpe Statue". Boy was I wrong! the statue was not Sam Sharpe but Usain Bolt! I was under the impression that the artist might not have known who Usain Bolt is as he could not have made such an obvious mistake.

Maybe, just maybe , he thought Usain Bolt was a distant cousin of Sam Sharpe and wanted to capture his likeness then add Usain's trademark "to the world pose". We are definitely not bashing the artist because we understand the time, effort and licenses ( and all the technical and legal stuff ) that goes into creating a statue. But! It looks nothing like Usain Bolt and should not have been unveiled in the first place.
