Father Charged After 7-Year-Old Son Shoots Infant Brother

A 26-year-old Chicago man faces several charges after his 7-year-old son shot his infant brother in an apparent accident in the city's Englewood neighborhood.

Just before 8 p.m. Wednesday on the 6300 block of South Laflin Avenue, Jones' 7-year-old son reportedly found a loaded .38-caliber revolver in a bedroom and shot his 7-month-old brother in the leg, according to ABC.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the infant boy was taken to Comer Children's Hospital and, though originally he was in serious-to-critical condition, his condition has stabilized and he is expected to survive the incident.

According to the Tribune, Jones was ineligible to hold a Firearm Owners Identification (FOID), though police have not yet disclosed why. In addition to the revolver, investigators found five other guns in the home.
