Liam Neeson Says He Thought About Becoming Muslim

Liam Thought About 'Becoming A Muslim'

Cat Stevens, Muhammad Ali, Snoop Dogg and... Liam Neeson? The veteran Irish actor could join the list of famous faces who have converted to Islam. (The "Wild World" singer adopted the name Yusaf Islam in 1978 and Ali rose to fame after he changed his name from Cassius Clay. No word about a new moniker for Snoop though).

On filming in Istanbul, Neeson told British rag The Sun: "The call to prayer happens five times a day, and for the first week, it drives you crazy, and then it just gets into your spirit, and it's the most beautiful, beautiful thing… There are 4,000 mosques in the city. Some are just stunning, and it really makes me think about becoming a Muslim."

The 59-year-old "The Grey" star, whose father was a caretaker at a local Catholic boys school, was born Roman Catholic and named after a priest. Istanbul is the largest city in a country where approximately 99.8 percent of its people call themselves Muslim.
