Lianzhou Photo festival is one of the biggest photo festivals in China and I finally visited it this year on its 10th anniversary. Where is Lianzhou? Go straight down to the south of China (Guangzhou) and then take a highway that passes impressive Karst mountains 250 north west in inner Guangdong province. This was my 4th photo festival I have visited in China and it stands up to its reputation. Three great venues in an old granary, shoe factory and candy factory. A couple dozen Chinese and Western exhibitions, including Peter Hugo - The Hyena, Carlos Spottorno - PIGS, Jacques Henri Lartigue - Lartigue au Grand Air, Yann Mingard - Deposit, Thomas Sauvin - Silver mine to name a few. If you haven't heard about these, do check them out!!! Overall really interesting shows and talks, interesting people, cool new opportunities and connections, new friends, productive portfolio review, karaoke, riding chickens... definitely worth crossing half of China to attend.
