Lindsay Lohan is picking up the pieces of her life and she's determined to remind everyone that she's an actress and not just tabloid fodder.
The 25-year-old was rather charming and seemed pulled-together on her appearance on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" Thursday night, as she discussed hosting "Saturday Night Live" this weekend and some of her other upcoming projects.
Lohan appears to be taking her career comeback very seriously and admitted to Fallon that she aggressively pursued the "SNL" gig by repeatedly calling the show's executive producer, Lorne Michaels, to see if she could host the show.
"I kept asking him, and I wasn't harassing him, but I wasn't giving up," she told Fallon. "He was in L.A. and you know Lorne, he's very straight to the point. He was like 'What about March 3?' I'm like, 'I'm free!'"
Lohan wouldn't give away any spoilers about the show this weekend, but she asked Fallon, a former "SNL" cast member, if he'd do a walk-on cameo for her, and he replied, "I'd do anything for you, if you want me to do it."
Saturday will be Lohan's fourth time hosting the show, and though she hasn't escaped being parodied by other actors on "SNL," the show has always welcomed Lohan to its stage -- and even tried to get her help when she first started showing signs she was in trouble.
According to a 2006 Vanity Fair article, Lorne Michaels and the show's then head writer Tina Fey, organized an intervention, telling Lohan what they had already witnessed with John Belushi and Chris Farley, who both died of drug overdoses.
"They sat me down, literally before I was going to do the show," Lohan told the magazine. "And they said, 'You need to take care of yourself. We care about you too much, and we've seen too many people do this,' and I just started bawling. I knew I had a problem and I couldn't admit it."
That intervention obviously didn't work, but six years later, Lohan is turning her life around. In her first starring role since 2007's box office bomb "I Know Who Killed Me," Lohan is lined up to play the late Elizabeth Taylor in a Lifetime movie about her life.
Lohan explained that the movie, titled "Liz & Dick," will start with her playing Taylor right after Taylor wrapped playing Cleopatra and will detail her life and relationship with Richard Burton toward the end of their lives.
