Lindsay Lohan To Star Opposite Porn Star James Deen In 'The Canyons'

Lindsay Lohan & Porn Star Join Bret Easton Ellis' New Film

Lindsay Lohan may have lost out on the chance to play infamous porn star Linda Lovelace, but she's about to star opposite one of the biggest names in adult entertainment.

The perpetually troubled starlet has managed to land another gig amidst new drama involving a crashed Porsche. Controversial author Bret Easton Ellis revealed that Lohan would star opposite porn star James Deen in his new movie "The Canyons."

On June 12, Ellis tweeted, "And I am beyond thrilled that James Deen and Lindsay Lohan will be playing the parts of Christian and Tara in THE CANYONS by BEE."

Ellis also revealed that filming will take place July 9 through 31 in Los Angeles, and expressed his excitement in the project, adding: "Could not have dreamed of a better cast. Lindsay nailed it..."

"The Canyons" is a contemporary thriller that documents "five twenty-somethings' quest for power, love, sex and success in 2012 Hollywood," and will be directed by Paul Schrader, according to the film's Kickstarter page.

Lohan is currently portraying Elizabeth Taylor in the Lifetime biopic "Liz & Dick," and though she would be working with a controversial cast member, more roles in films is what Lohan needs to get her career back on track.

Though Ellis couldn't wait to announce the cast, a source tells E! News, that Lohan is still working out the details and hasn't officially signed on to the film yet. According to the source, Lohan is drawn to the film because of the opportunity to work with Schrader, who wrote classic movies such as "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull."

"He's an amazing filmmaker and it's an amazing role for her. She couldn't be happier," said the source, who also addressed the issue of working alongside a known porn star. "If she had a problem with James Deen, she wouldn't have pursued the role."

"The Canyons" will be the first mainstream role for Deen, 25, who was profiled last year in GOOD magazine and featured on "Nightline" because of his fan base, which is predominately made up of teenage girls.

CORRECTION: A previous version inaccurately stated that Paul Schrader directed "Taxi Driver" and "Raging Bull." While Schrader wrote these pictures, Martin Scorsese directed them. The article has been corrected above.
