The NFL isn't the only football league dealing with player safety issues. According to several former players, the women of the Legends Football League are putting their scantily clad bodies in harm's way each time they take the field.
A group of women who previously played in the 7-on-7 indoor football league spoke with "Inside Edition" and detailed injuries ranging from concussions and broken bones to scrapes from the playing surface.
Formed as the Lingerie Football League in 2009, the rebranded LFL includes teams in 12 U.S. cities. The league and its founder, Mitch Mortaza, are no strangers to controversy. Several players left the Toronto Triumph after the first game of the 2011 season citing concerns over coaching and safety equipment.
“We would have headaches during practice,” Sandra Dalla Giustina told the Toronto Star at the time. “They made a hockey helmet a football helmet, and that’s not what it’s for.”
