Lionel Richie Says These 3 Corny Words Will Never Go Out Of Style (VIDEO)

The Corny Thing Lionel Richie Says Will Never Go Out Of Style

Growing up, Lionel Richie's teachers said he had a problem: He was too sensitive. On his upcoming "Oprah's Master Class" interview, the music icon explains how that "problem" turned into a gift.

"I found a subject that will never ever go out of style," Richie says in the above video. "Love."

"I don't care if you're the roughest, toughest, meanest guy in the whole world or the softest wuss you ever met in your life," he says. "Sooner or later, you're going to use these three corny words -- 'I love you' -- to somebody. Or you're going to die for somebody to say that to you."

Because of that, the "Endless Love" and "Say You, Say Me," songwriter says love will always be in style.

"And believe me, in my 35 years of trying to write something else other than those three corny words, I can now report to you there is nothing to replace those words," Richie says.

"Oprah's Master Class" with Lionel Richie airs Sunday, June 22 at 10 p.m. on OWN.
